Where to camp at Murrindindi Scenic Reserve

When I was planning to go to Murrindindi, there wasn't a map to show where to camp. This made it hard to tell our friends where to meet us.

The DEPARTMENT OF PRIMARY INDUSTRIES have the following information on the reserve...

No map!

The best map I found was a one that shows the location of toilets! Here it is if you are interested toilet map.

So, I decided I'd put a couple of maps on the net that shows where to camp. Hopefully, this will help others.

The follow maps are from the Murrindindi Scenic Reserve information boards. I took photographs of them. Click on the map to see a larger version.

I also found the DPI instructions regarding how to get to Murrindindi not very clear.

We drove from Melbourne up the Melba HWY. Not far after the KingLake turn off (perhaps 15 minutes), turn right into Murrindindi road.

After a few minutes of driving down this road, there is a left hand turn into Murrindindi road! Keep going straight ahead.

The road will turn into dirt not long after. It will then turn right (away from the power lines). At this turn you should see a sign for the reserve.

Just before entering the reserve there is a saw mill on the right hand side.

The maps above are located just inside the reserve on the left.

There are many camp sites along the Murrindindi creek for the next five kilometers. It looks like the nicer ones are further in.

The funny thing is...we didn't end up staying because it was EASTER...and it was totally PACKED. Ha ha.

Murrindindi is located about two hours from Melbourne. Here is its general location on a Google map...
